What can I expect in a session?

Developing mindful awareness of bodily sensations is the key to emotional regulation. In a body psychotherapy session we learn to recognise patterns of change in our posture, breathing and emotions evoked by our experiences. We do this using one or more of the following:

  • Talking whilst sitting in chairs
  • Lying down and exploring relaxation methods
  • Exploring gentle exercises, movements and body postures
  • Using art materials
  • Talking to objects or cushions representing people in our life or parts of ourself
  • Biodynamic massage
  • Guided imagery

Sessions are for 60 minutes. We will have an initial meeting where you can tell me about yourself and ask me any questions you may have. After that, if we agree to continue, our sessions will be at the same time each week.
